Horse Sense is an organisation dedicated to providing a unique learning experience that strengthens and develops lives. The Horse Sense facilitators, partnered with horses, present clients with challenges that stimulate healthy life skills and positive behaviour changes. This process is called Equine Assisted Development And Counselling (EADAC). These sessions are a collaborative effort between a licensed therapist and a certified equine specialist working with the horse and the client. EADAC is an accredited form of therapy appropriate for individuals, couples and group sessions. Our facilitators can help with personal development, lifestyle change, family dynamics, relationship improvement, depression and anxiety, anger management, learning and behavioural problems, relapse prevention in recovery from addiction, recovery from trauma, self-esteem, stress management and team building. We take great pride in taking the time to design our programs based on the individual needs and goals of each client.
At Horse Sense we know the most effective and long lasting personal growth occurs through active participation. With EADAC, interaction with the horses and processing with the therapist and equine specialist helps lead people to that place. Clients can practice new behaviours in a safe, therapeutic environment and learn that in changing themselves, they do have the power to change the world around them. The process begins by interacting with the horses, then identifying and reflecting with the staff on what transpired. Participants learn and practice new strategies to achieve goals outside the arena. Talking is minimal as the horse provides critical feedback that no human can offer. Horses intuit our emotional states and respond accordingly, and therefore we learn the most valuable of lessons: by changing ourselves, the world around us can change.
