7th March 2015 I've had a difficult time trying to get my bike properly serviced by T. White's Bikes. I took it in for service because my crank was creaking really badly. In the process they found some other issues but never got to the bottom of the creaking. In fact, there was evidence they hadn't done everything their checklist suggested they had done, e.g., the tyre pressure could not have been checked because the ceased up valve was still ceased up when I picked up the bike. Another thing they did was to replace the rear cogs with a different size but failed to inform me that there were other options that would have given me the same gearing. I then returned the bike soon after because the original crank noise was still there plus there was a noise coming from the front axel not to mention the chain would jam if pedalled backwards whenever in a specific gear configuration. The second time around they found that the front bearings were worn out. Once again I wondered why their original service hadn't picked up on this. Anyway, I took it out for a ride on the road and, as soon as I went up the first hill and put force on the crank, the original noise returned and louder than ever. I've tried to give them a third chance to rectify their service and reputation or at least refund me the cost of the labour (so that I can have another shop fix it once and for all) but they want nothing to do with me nor the bike claiming that it's not a quality bike (it's a Merida) so I should just accept it in this state and that I am no longer welcome at their shop. This is such a cop-out on their part. Sure, less quality parts will fail sooner than high-quality parts but quality or not does not justify a part not to be repairable or replaceable. Do not do business with these people!
