About 300 years ago, a craftsman took a piece of roughly shaped wood and created the ever first figurine. He did not know but he started a new tradition, the tradition of Erzgebirge figurine art. Today wood from birch, maple or native spruce, which forms the basis for the elaborate individual filigree components are coaxed further to life by turning, sanding or carving techniques.
This techniques are performed only by craftsman in the Erzgebirge, who have an eye for detail and create figures with such love, that this figures find a way into peoples heart.
