The authenticity of a vehicles mileage is an important part of importing, buying and selling a used vehicle. All types of vehicles are subject to odometer tampering. Analogue, digital, and diagnostic. JEVIC's inspection consists of a forensic examination subject to removal of the odometer unit, diagnostic testing, vehicle condition, available maintenance records and documents and finally crossed checked on a national database.
Once a vehicle passes inspection, a recognizable sticker is placed on the front windscreen identifying it as having an authentic odometer reading. Also issued is a Certificate of Inspection.
JEVIC has been contracted by importing countries regulatory authorities to conduct Odometer Inspections on all vehicles prior to export. Such countries include Fiji and Malta.
The New Zealand Automobile Association has entered into a Joint Venture with JEVIC to protect consumers against odometer fraud and fully endorses the JEVIC Odometer Inspection process.
To further guarantee the highest standard of technical ability and quality assurance is maintained, JEVIC have achieved ISO/IEC 17020:1998 accreditation recognized internationally, specifically for Odometer Inspections.
Odometer verifications can be completed in Japan, Singapore and New Zealand for world wide destinations.
