We are a unique water garden located 45 minutes south of Auckland city with amazing views of Mauku Waterfall and surrounding ponds, the rocky quarry and beautiful gardens. Flowers and pathways are perfect for Weddings, Tours and Sightseeing as well as venue hire for special occasions and celebrations.
WEDDINGS and CELEBRATIONS
Wrights Watergardens have been the venue for many weddings, engagements, celebrations and memories. The Watergarden Function Centre is an excellent choice to hold your wedding reception.
WEDDINGS
Whether it is your photos, ceremony, reception or all three, we can cater for all your wedding venue requirements.
The lush, green wedding lawn is a stunning location for an outdoor ceremony. You may like to have a marquee to celebrate your reception and enjoy the magnificent view of the Mauku waterfall lit at night. The wedding lawn is surrounded by beautiful gardens and has its very own bandstand and ponds. For weddings in the colder or raining months, the new summerhouse or the Watergarden Function Centre are also available.
The gardens provide numerous spots for wedding party photos and/or intimate photos. Your photographer will be spoilt for choice.

CELEBRATIONS
With the opening of our new summerhouse, we have another fantastic location for hire. The summerhouse is perfect for family gatherings, reunions, group visits, day trips and more.
It is built over one of the many beautiful water lily ponds and looks out onto the Mauku waterfall.
Whether it is on the wedding lawn, in the quarry garden or in the summerhouse, we are happy to arrange any other requirements you may have to help you celebrate your special occasion. WHAT'S HAPPENING IN THE GARDEN?
GARDEN:
The gardens are open for all to enjoy. The many hardy and tropical waterlillies are in flower, as are the sacred lotus flowers. The garden is in full bloom so be sure to come out and see the magnificent beauty and colour in the garden.
FOR THE KIDS
The gardens are a great place for a family day out. Kids especially love our turtle colony and the eel pond! Due to height and water hazards, children must be supervised by an adult at all times.
FOR THE DOGS
We warmly invite you to bring your dog(s) out to enjoy the gardens with you. We ask that you bring a leash and clean up any mess the dog may make.
THE GARDEN'S HISTORY
Wrights Watergardens are built around the historic Mauku Waterfall and stream. The area has a rich and eventful history.
During the eighteen hundreds, a huge waterwheel was located at the top of the waterfall which powered the flax mill built beside it. Once dismantled, the area became a favourite picnic spot and the site of many wedding proposals.
After the Second World War the land was turned into a rock quarry which provided much of the hard metal for the roads leading out to the local steel mill. After the quarry was abandoned, noxious weeds and rubbish covered the area for several decades.
The quarry has now been transformed into a 5-acre garden, beautiful in all seasons. A different scene emerges each day, from the ever-changing selection of trees, shrubs and native plants. Water lilies, lotus and iris all flourish in this stunning setting.

Watergarden Function Centre is licensed with Table Service. The Centre serves Morning, afternoon Tea and Lunches. the Watergarden Function Centre is also available for Special Family Occasions and Weddings.

Really could be called the garden of 'Eden', nothing but beauty and the peaceful sound of the waterfall is just a must to be heard. A must for any age and just a perfect setting for the perfect wedding, nothing but beauty everywhere, the perfect wedding shots here!! A MUST SEE TO BELIEVE!!!
