We came out for a Sunday afternoon lunch and had a great time. The drive into the vineyard is beautiful and well worth the drive. The staff are all super friendly including the chef who showed me to the cafe (I'm probably the only person who manages to get lost here!). Our table ordered the anti pasto platters to share which were delicious and beautifully presented. I had the organic crispy chicken and was not disappointed with my choice. The wine was you'd expect devine.

There was a wedding being set up on the lawn- I couldn't think of a better place to get married.

Really disappointed in our 2nd visit it Villa Maria, took our one year old after checking the website to see if they had something suitable for him, Sauasages and Mash will do. After meeting my parents there they had advised us the menu was different to the one they read on this site which was fine for us but not for our son, he had to settle on chicken tenders and potatoes in some sort of pesto, when I asked if we could swap the potatoes for chips the waitress advised, sorry we don't have chips! Don't do a kids menu then, I know it's a winery but kids won't eat stuff they don't like and if you won't the parents to come back, you need to somehow be a little flexible with the kids menu. Secondly my wife asked for a lime and soda water, only to be told they don't have soda water, after the effort it took the first time we visited she was brave to try again. What it the main ingredient in a wine spritzer other than wine? Soda Water!!!! This may be a little harsh but in all honesty the food was nice but the service and menu both drinks and food (and kids menu) need to be improved, for us to even consider bringing our money back there!!!

A trip to Villa is a real treat if you're out near the airport. The tasting is well worth $5 for the quality of wines you get to try. We had a delicious platter for lunch in the restaurant out on the balcony overlooking the lake and vines. You'd never know you were in Mangere!

The cellar door is awesome. The cafe is cool with really nice layout. We got a really solid platter and downed it with a bottle of their Syrah....good fun. Also look out for their big clearance sale, I got some amazing deals, they had a huge range from their lower level stuff right through to their single vineyard selection and they tasted the lot!

Well done to Villa Maria for being a venue for concerts - have been to a few concerts here and it is a lovely venue to relax and enjoy your concert - would recommend Villa Maria as the perfect venue
