Rosenfeld Kidson and Co. Ltd, The Timber Source, is a specialist timber merchant and importer stocking New Zealand's largest range of specialist timbers, both imported and locally grown.
Rosenfeld Kidson has been in business almost 80 years. The success and longevity of the company has largely hinged on the efforts and experience of dedicated and loyal staff who are able to provide our customers with a wealth of knowledge about the specialist timbers we sell.
PRODUCT RANGE
Sawn Timber
Rosenfeld Kidson stocks New Zealand's largest range of specialist timbers, currently about 50 species and most of which are on display in our showroom at 513 Mt. Wellington Highway in Auckland.
These timbers are distributed to joiners, furniture manufacturers, cabinetmakers, boatbuilders, flooring contractors and the construction industry throughout the country, primarily via selected merchant resellers.
Timber flooring
Our range includes more than 20 species of the premium hardwood flooring timbers of the world.
These are available in a selection of more than 50 solid wood long-run, overlay and parquet products, all designed to give a long service of life and to withstand repeated sanding and recoating.
Popular wooden flooring species include American white oak, Tasmanian oak, jarrah, matai, tawa, rimu, kwila, American red oak, maple, yaka, spotted gum, saligna, vitex, rosewood, taukkyan (East Indian walnut) and roasted oak.
Hardwood decking
A dozen or so species are available in a range of about 20 different products and our experienced staff are here to advise the best option for you.
Species include kwila, vitex, massa (Pacific jarrah), belian, balau, jarrah, and saligna to name a few. These are available in a wide range of sizes including 65x19mm, 90x19mm, 140x19mm, 140x25mm and 140x32mm.
Landscaping & construction
We have available durable hardwoods for both domestic and commercial landscaping projects, as well as boardwalks around parks, reserves and waterfronts.
Hardwood species such as karri, vitex, jarrah, kwila, tonka and massa (Pacific jarrah) have proven themselves to be the preferred species for these applications.
Also available are durable and stable softwoods such as western red cedar, Alaskan yellow cedar and H3 treated radiata for window and door joinery, exterior cladding and mouldings, as well as posts and beams for pergolas and the like.
Hardwood piles and sawn timber for bridge, wharf and railway construction and hardwood poles and crossarms for power reticulation have also always been a niche market for The Timber Source.
Cladding and weatherboards
Western red cedar is the predominant species used for timber cladding in New Zealand, primarily as weatherboarding but also as shingles or shakes. Rosenfeld Kidson stocks a full range of all profiles of the weatherboards, fascia and exterior mouldings required for the exterior cladding of buildings.
Cedar can be left uncoated to weather naturally to a silver-grey colour or it will readily accept a stain or surface coating, which will extend its service life. We can supply all of our cedar cladding products with factory applied coating to provide a full envelope seal prior to delivery.
Popular cedar weatherboard profiles include bevel back weatherboards, rusticated weatherboards, vertical shiplap weatherboards, board and batten weatherboards and splaycut weatherboards.
Panelling/sarking
A large range of panelling and sarking products are also available in a range of timber species - mainly TG&V profiles which are machined to order.
Mouldings and D4S products
In addition to our Western red cedar exterior mouldings we have dressed four sides (D4S) products available and good stocks of D4S kwila, vitex and cedar are held in our warehouse.
