One of our favourite places to dine be it lunch time or evening.
The food is outstanding as is the atmosphere. We have never had any meal that has not been first class.

This 1920s Edwardian villa in the heart of Merivale is everything that a bar and restaurant destination should be, with natural timbers, stone, leather and copper, roaring fires in winter and al fresco dining year round. The menu has the best of fresh local fare with Pure Angus beef, venison and fresh fish daily, and don't miss the house specialities - substantial platters perfect for sharing with a group of friends.

This is No.4 - exceptionally good beer, food and great stories.

I visited Number 4 with a group of six last night. I understand they were busy, but that is no excuse in my mind for poor service and overcooked food. When I told them my food was over cooked, they agreed, unfortunately it took over 30 minutes for them to bring another meal out. This should have taken five max, considering what I ordered. The staff were quite rude and did very little to fix the situation. I think considering how much they change their customers, they offer very poor service and food quality! We will not be eating there again!

I would first like to thank you for taking time to bring these issues to our attention as we appreciate feedback whether good or bad, as it helps us to maintain our standards. It is a great disappointment that this has happened as we endeavour to give high food and service standards at all times. We apologise for the initial mistake and the delay in receiving your replacement meal. Unfortunately, we find your comments are slightly exaggerated and unfair towards the business and staff. My food was over cooked and could not even cut into the meat. When I told the waiter his reply was can't you see we are busy and we can't get it right all the time. I wont be going back.

I have had drinks here often and is generally packed. The bar snacks are great, staff re friendly and the drinks are well made :)
