We enjoy the drive out to Puhoi- especially with the Northern extension - it takes a scant 1/2 hr to get there from the North Shore of Auckland.
The tearooms are situated in old-fashioned gardens with fruit trees, willows and plenty of wildlife for the kids to be entertained with.
The food is simple and basic, but the overall environment makes for a very pleasant afternoon tea. It is also consistent,the scones are huge, and the owner plays his guitar to add to the ambience.
There is plenty to do in Puhoi - (mustardmmakers are 2 mins from the tearooms and Puhoi cheese is a few minutes up the road) not action stuff apart from the canoes up Puhoi river being established as a settlement in 1907 the area in quaint and we always enjoy our visit.
