Our homestay/Bed and Breakfast is situated in Central Westland of theSouth Island, set amidst native ferns on a hillside overlooking the Tasman Sea - where we are priveleged with many amazing sunsets.
Our homestay is off the main road - quiet location-off street parking, 5 minutes walk from beach.
Our three double rooms have ensuites, TV. hot drink facilities. Two of our rooms have their own entrances off our large seaview deck - a place where you can rest and relax after your days sightseeing on our wonderful Coast,
Dinner is available (prior notice)and also laundry facilities - all at moderate charges.
We are centrally situated for you to explore the Punakaiki Pancake Rocks, Lake Brunner, Fox and Franz Joseph Glaciers. Ideally you need 3-4 days to experience many of our wonderful walks, scenic adventures and activities. If you are coming from the East Coast (Christchurch) take a trip on the Tranz Alpine Train - a highly rated trip through the mountain areas of Arthurs Pass. I can meet you off the train or your can organize a rental car to collect at the station. Kea Tours - our local company run tours to Punakaiki as well as the Glacier region, - a great alternative to driving so you can enjoy the scenery and also the local knowledge of the drivers.
Greymouth was named after one of our Governor Generals - Sir George Grey - it is an area that has had its struggles but is now on the crest of an economic boom, largely due to new coals mines being opened, the dairy industry, tourism, and all the industries supporting those mentioned.
We Allison and Glen have been hosting guests for over 10 years now and we have had some wonderful times with our guests from all around the world. Allison enjoys playing bridge and her garden, and Glen enjoys large jigsaws, rugby (NZ playing of course) and reading.
