IWD Strapping Sales was established on 1 April 1985 and quickly built a reputation as a supplier of quality packaging products and provider of first class customer service. On this foundation the company expanded rapidly to include branches in every mainland capital city in Australia. In October 2000 IWD Strapping Sales set up a branch in Auckland, New Zealand to target opportunities in this country.
August 2006 brought the turn of a significant page in history for IWD Strapping Sales, marked by its acquisition by ITW. The acquisition provided IWD Strapping Sales with additional resources to continue its growth while it maintained its position as an independent company. IWD Strapex is now a division of ITW Industrial Packaging.
On 1 October 2007 the name changed from IWD Strapping Sales to IWD Strapex to include the sole distribution of Strapex products in the New Zealand market.
