I did not think I would like this but it is one of the best restaurants I have been too the food was delish can't wait to go back and it was entertaining as well.

Ichiban Teppanyaki, Wellington's largest and highly recommended Japanese style and gourmet restaurant, specialises in the Japanese Culinary Art of Teppan-Yaki cooking (barbeque on a hot plate) which originated in Osaka 250 years ago.

Enjoy an experience of dining and entertainment while one of our highly skilled and artistic chefs perform and prepare fresh seafood and tender meats right in front of you.

In the spacious restaurant area, diners can enjoy the theatre of Classic Teppanyaki-style cooking, where expert chefs prepare your food at your own dedicated grill station. Be prepared for an evening of fun and great food as our title of Theatrical Cuisine suggests it's a real show of acrobatic knife skills, spectacular flames and culinary delights.

Restaurant, seats up to 80, an ideal venue for functions, corporate or a group night out.

Cuisine includes appetisers, salmon, sashimi, sushi, king prawns Tempura, Yakitori, Harumaki. Barbeque mains include salmon, scallops, squid, prawn, chicken teriyaki, garlic chicken, fillet steak, Teriyaki steak, lamb. All barbeque mains served with salad, steamed rice and vegetables.

good enough food and service but to warn u's who expect japanese food. it's CHINESE version of tepanyaki so yeah.. i was expecting japanese tepanyaki so was disappointed. they over use cooking oil during cooking (chinese way).

Fantastic food / entertainment at a very reasonable price. Don't be put off by the slightly dodgy looking shop frontage! go inside and enjoy fantastically flavoursome food, cooked right in front of you by very skill full chefs. great fun for groups.

This is a great experience. The food is melt-in-your-mouth fantastic, and the chefs are entertainment personified - what a show! A terrific night out with loads of laughs. Would definitely go back there.

I never thought I would apsolutely LOVE Japanese Restaurants in generel, this was the best night I've had, the staff very friendly, the chefs are amazing and so entertaining, there are no words to describe how fantastic the food was, what ever your taste buds are theres something for everyone.. you won't be dissapointed. It's great for families with kids, great for couples or a group of friends.

We had a fantastic experience. The Teppanyaki chef was spectacular and extremely entertaining. My wife & I thoroughly enjoyed the food and the experience. Those chefs are really talented. I can see how this could be a great place for a group booking for a top party night as well as a good way to impress on a first date :-)
