I found the Coaltown Museum at Westport thoroughly absorbing - taking a trip down memory lane into a bygone era that my ancestors were part of. Its best to go there first before exploring other historic places such as Denniston and Waimangaroa. Highly recommend to anyone interested in the pioneers and first settlers of Westport and surrounds.
