took the husband to igacu for his birthdy he wasnt keen as he had had a bad meal there years ago !! ( he holds grudges ) but it was a miserable day and i reviewed the new menue on line and we gave it a go. We were greeted by lovely waitress who was so friendly and we took a seat in the conservatory to people watch and enjoy the atmosphere. Hubby started with mussles - the entre size was huge and apparently they were amazing ( he loves his mussles) then maiin course of steak for him and calamari for me the portions were huge so that didnt leave us any room for the amazing desert menue. we definatly will be back next time we want to try the tapas menue. well done iguacu you have certainly up the game since last time we were there see you soon

All were cooked very well and the vegetables supporting them were just as delicious as the meat. Service was excellent, professional, but not in your face. Had a delicious mango cinammon cocktail as well. Unique flavours that went together well. This is still the best restaurant I've been to.

We had a family lunch at Iguacu during the week - 3 adults, a one year old and a four year old (very lively). The kids loved both of their kids meals, the kids menu is full of great options. The staff were great with the kids and made us all feel very welcome. We ordered the Steak with seafood on top, salmon and the mussels in chardonnay. All tasty meals and the fries and ciabatta were the best I have had in a while.

I'm sorry to say we weren't impressed last night when eathing at Iguacu. Iguacu has been a favourite of ours for a long time - but the last 2-3 visits has been a disappointment - which is a shame, as it's such an 'institution' in Parnell. We just wanted a simple meal instead of having to cook at home, so my husband ordered artisan bread, cappacio and a rocket salad with pear and parmesan. The bread was heated - warm on the outside, but cold inside. The cappacio was OK. The salad came without the parmesan, which my husband likes a lot and when he handed the salad to the waiter and asked him to add some parmesan he got grated parmesan in a bowl instead... it's not the same as shaved parmesan - completely different taste and grated parmesan is for pasta, etc. not a salad. I ordered grilled fish - and the taste was OK but the smell was very 'fishy' and not very appetising. I asked for a 'healthy' fish dish and got the fish with a little bowl of mushy peas... and nothing else... Luckily I'd ordered a tomato salad as a side... :o) Service was absolutely perfect, so it's 'only' the food we weren't satisfied with - and it was the same last time and the time before that - unfortunately. But... we are still hopeful as we love the place itself.

What a shame you did not enjoy your meal at Iguacu - we hate anyone leaving here disappointed. We take any feedback like this very seriously and I have spoken with the kitchen team and floor staff that handled your booking to ascertain what might have gone wrong. By all accounts it appears that there must have been a miscommunication with your order and I can only apologise that we did not live up to your expectations. Our wild rocket salad with pear & parmesan is only ever served with the highest quality shaved parmesan. Unfortunately having just run out of the shaved parmesan the kitchen suggested that another option be selected, or the salad be served with grated parmesan. I understand that your waiter checked with you and you were happy to have the grated parmesan. Unfortunately this absorbed into the dressing rather rapidly and more was brought to your table at your request. In hindsight we should have just chosen not to serve the dish and will definitely learn from this experience. With regard to your fish - our waiter understood that you selected the fish and chips from our menu, which comes in two ways. The first is chargrilled Hapuka with chips, citrus butter & salad and the second is battered Terakihi with chips & green pea puree. He understood that you wanted the chargrilled Hapuka but did not want the salad as you ordered another side salad and did not want the chips. As it is quite unusual for someone to order just the grilled fish and pea puree, he recalls double checking the order with you prior to it being sent to the kitchen. I can assure you that our fish is delivered fresh to the restaurant on a daily basis. I do hope that despite your disappointment you will give us another opportunity in the future.

And it was someone's last day at work, as she was heading back home to the UK via Melbourne and Sydney. The night felt good. And Iguacu did not disappoint. At the bar, while the girls got their cocktails and white wine, I ordered tasting glasses for four different pinot noirs. We hanged out by the bar before heading off to our table. I ordered a full glass the Mt. Edward pinot noir and started with a lovely bowl of green lipped mussels in chardonnay. For mains, I had the char-grilled big-eye tuna, on a friend's recommendation. Satisfied and full, I regretfully was unable to try any dessert. Iguacu lives up to its reputation as a great restaurant and I would definitely go there again. I'll make sure to make room for the chocolate decadence cake.

I last dined at Iguacu about 12 months ago, and I returned with a group of colleagues on Friday night. We ordered a few wines from the bar (standing near the glow of the warm fire) before heading through to the restaurant. We were about 45minutes late but the staff were suitably ok with that. My meal was just delicious! I can recommend the steak served on top of whipped kumara and mushrooms, perfectly gorgeous! Impressive service, warm and welcoming atmosphere, this is most certainly a top notch dining experience.

I had the pleasure of having lunch at Iguacu today and I have to say I'll definitely be back! The service was really friendly and helpful without being over the top. I couldn't decide on a wine so the maitre'd picked one that complimented the tuna perfectly. Well done Iguacu, keep it up.

Le service etait parfait. Le cadre agreable. Nous avons pris deux steaks. Il ne connaissent malheureusement pas ce qu'est une cuisson "bleu". Il faut insister en disant "very blue".

My husband and I chose to go here for our birthday after culling Soul and Euro from the mix. It was the best choice we made. Iguacu is a very trendy restaurant with fabulous interiors. The atmosphere is very vibrant and the food is to die for. I ordered for the steak which was cooked to perfection and my husband opted for the lamb which was also delicious. A little bit pricey however portion sizes are generous and offer great value for money. I was very impressed with the service. The staff were polite and friendly. I definitely recommend this place and would go back again.

We ordered the Calamari and Chicken Liver as a starter. The Calamari was exceptional and the Chicken Liver sauce was rich in flavour. For mains we got the Scotch Fillet. It was cooked very well and the taste was exceptional. The portion sizes were more than satisfactory. The Crème Brûleé Trio for dessert was glorious. This was the first time we've had Chocolate Crème Brûleé (part of trio) and it was marvellous. The Crème Brûleé Trio is a must have when you dine at this place. Overall the service was exceptional and the food was brilliant. Will definitely go again. 5 STARS!!!

We shared the whitebait as a starter and it was good and very tasty but a little overpriced. for our mains the portions were large but bad presented, look like the food my wife make at home and not like in a restaurant. Charming welcome, wonderful service, lovely atmosphere and not at all cramped or noisy. (The first inviting looking place walking up from Parnell Rise that wasn't death by gluten i.e. Italian). Fabulous bottle of Maalbec from Mendoza under $40 from their exotics list. The first mouthful of the game pie was one of those memorable moments in dining and the crisped chicken breast was an example of a classic dish done really well. Good value for a special night out and will definitely return.

Fabulous bottle of Maalbec from Mendoza under $40 from their exotics list. The first mouthful of the game pie was one of those memorable moments in dining and the crisped chicken breast was an example of a classic dish done really well. Good value for a special night out and will definitely return.

Charming welcome, wonderful service, lovely atmosphere and not at all cramped or noisy. (The first inviting looking place walking up from Parnell Rise that wasn't death by gluten i.e. Italian). Fabulous bottle of Maalbec from Mendoza under $40 from their exotics list. I visited this restaurant after my friends told me what a great experience they had had there and it really was a fantastic evening. I had the kangaroo which tasted divine and my husband selected the tempura whole baby snapper which he was also very happy with. I had the white chocolate brulee for dessert and licked the plate clean! Our waitress was very attentive but not too intrusive and answered all of my husband's painful questions about the wine list with ease. The atmopshere was amazing - especially the glass ceiling which looked to a massive tree filled with fairy lights. You felt like you were dining under the stars. My only complaint was that it was a bit noisy but to be fair the place was completely full and it is a huge restaurant. Whilst the restaurant is not cheap, we left feeling very satisfied that we had received value for money and mentioned this in the customer survey on our table. The very next day we received a personal email from the owner of the restaurant responding to our feedback and thanking us for dining. Now that's customer service! We will definatley be back and will be recommending this restaurant to all of our friends.

This place is still good as its in a great location, has great food, steaks cooked to perfection, good service too. But I must say has slip a bit from the fantastic restaurant it used to be many years ago.. 3 and a half stars from me.

Um...so if the food was great, the service was great and the atmosphere was great, what exactly has slipped? The restaurant has just completed a total internal refurbishment and won Best NZ Restaurant two years in a row.

This place has been a fav over the years with my friends and I for a catch up drink and a great meal. Great bar and outdoor seating, makes you feel at home, can sit there over a vineo for hours.

We went to Igacu on Friday night and as usual, everything was superb. We had the bread for starters, which was freshly baked. The mains we had were lamb, beef cheeks and eye fillet. All were cooked very well and the vegetables supporting them were just as delicious as the meat. Service was excellent, professional, but not in your face. Had a delicious mango cinammon cocktail as well. Unique flavours that went together well. This is still the best restaurant I've been to.
