THE BREWERY
"Lighthouse Brewery was commissioned on the 23rd July 1996 and is the smallest legal brewery in New Zealand, brewing only 200 litres per batch. I only sell what I can't drink myself. A brewery tour is a lot of fun as you stand in the centre of the little brewery with glass in hand and the brerwery is wheeled past you, bright beer tanks, conditioning tanks and fermentors are all on wheels."
Dick Tout, Lighthouse Keeper
The name 'Lighthouse Brewery' comes from the Nelson Lighthouse situated on the boulder bank which leads to the entrance of Nelson Harbour. This was New Zealand's second lighthouse and was first lit in August 1862. The lighthouse is still standing today, but is not in use

It is with these simple. unassuming , looking vats, that Dick brews the beer that makes the whole of Nelson sing. They say a picture is worth a thousand words. Dick says: "A Lighthouse Brewery and tasting tour is priceless." But don't trust Dick, find out for yourself.
