Puppy School
Puppy School Getting your Puppy off to the best possible start
The socialization period of a puppy is most important during the first 16 weeks of its life, this is also the period where their immune system is not fully mature, and they are at risk for infectious disease.
The purpose of our classes are to provide a safe environment for your puppy to be introduced to new people, other puppies and the vet clinic itself.
Our aim is to assist you in raising a healthy puppy that will grow into a confident well mannered dog.
Our classes are based on positive reinforcement training. We introduce basic commands.
We run classes all year round. Classes are for puppies between 8 and 16 weeks. They must have had their first vaccination and be following a vaccination program.
Cattery:
Our cattery Relax on your holiday knowing your cat is under Veterinary attention
We have a cattery downstairs from the clinic. It has individual runs. We can house cats from the same family together. Each run is approximately 1 x 2 m with a climbing area, a smaller cage/hiding hole with a bed. Most of the runs have windows to the outside, with sunlight steaming in.
All cats are checked at least twice daily, and with the vets just an arm's length away any unwell cats can be tend to straight away. In the event of an emergency Whangaparaoa Veterinary Centre will try to make contact with you (or an alternative contact person) before initiating treatment.
Export Checks for dogs & cats going to Australia:
Export checks for dogs and cats going to Australia
Both Emma and Shanti are registered at MAF to be able to do exportation checks.
Cats and dogs exported form New Zealand to Australia must comply with the import requirements of Australia.
(i) The owner/exporter must make a statutory declaration which has been witnessed by a Justice of the Peace.
(ii) A registered veterinarian approved to export live cats and dogs to Australia must certify that he/she is satisfied by veterinary or council registration records that in case of a dog, it has been continuously resident in New Zealand since birth. (otherwise a blood test might be required) and that the dog/cat was examined for export within 72 hours of the scheduled time of shipment. More information is available from Biosecurity New Zealand.
* Our family have been cat lovers for years and it has always been a challenging exercise to find a Vet that understands how you feel about your pets and how they are part of your family. The team at Whangaparaoa Veterinary Centre understand this and have a great way of calming both human and feline down during the appointment! The team have always gone out of their way to give top notch experienced care to our furry family members, their advice is sound and easy to follow and best of all, their great service is affordable. Cats are fickle beings, it is really all about them! The team recognise this and our cats are made to feel welcome and are handled gently through the whole experience. This leaves a calm and content feline, who emerges from the cage with nose in air when arriving home. A big thank you to the team at Whangaparaoa Veterinary Centre for their quality care and understanding, I highly recommend their services.
