Not often do people have nice things to say about those that serve them and because I was so impressed with Storage King Onehunga, when Barbara asked me to write a review for her, I so gladly obliged.
I have stored with many other companies before discovering Storage King Onehunga, and honestly none have compared. The prices are great and affordable, the security is top notch with it's individually alarmed units, and you really feel that Barbara & her team are meeting your needs. It felt nice to be working with such a professional, high quality storage company. It's sometimes difficult to imagine that you would need to use storage facilities. The need to have them tends to just spring up on you and it can be quite a surprise to learn about the good ones and the bad ones. I have a house staging business and when my large amount of furniture is not being used in a setting, we are storing it with Storage King Onehunga. Many of my clients also use the storage at Onehunga to store their goods while they use mine and have not had any problem with doing so.
If you do need to use a storage company, go for one that is single level like Onehunga as they are easily accessed. This will mean something to you if you have to make twenty trips up and down in a lift with things on trolleys. Trust me on this.
Barbara the manager has a reasonably common sense approach and I find her very easy to deal with. If you want storage but you're not sure how much space you need, they'll show you the best size units that you can inspect to decide for yourself. My advice is that you shouldn't be convinced only by the floor space. Remember the storage unit goes up and you should try and minimise the space you use by storing up as well as over the floor. The bigger the floor space, the more you pay.
Simply select the unit you want, fill out the paperwork and then pay one month rent in advance. The actual amounts differ according to the size of the unit and the method by which you intend to pay (you can pay by direct debit, recurring credit card payments or cash/eftpos). Prices at Storage King are competitive. There are cheaper companies out there, but they don't have the quality of units to offer so it's worth paying a little bit more. Once you've paid up, you're allocated a unit. You need to provide (or buy) a padlock to secure the unit and only you'll have the key for this, so you should rest assured that nobody can get into your unit. When you rent a unit, you sign a contract that will oblige you to give only 14 days notice when you want to leave and they don't tie you into long lease times.
Security is a huge issue where your possessions are concerned, and Storage King Onehunga's units are without a doubt the most secure that I have ever used especially having a manager who lives on site. The site is manned most of the time and they have a network of cameras and alarms 24/7. When you arrive, you have to swipe your access card, which then disarms your unit alarm and grants you access to your unit. If somebody accesses your unit without your card being entered at the entrance, an alarm is activated. You also have to swipe your card as you leave, to re-arm your unit alarm and this is all recorded electronically.
The staff members are so helpful, flexible and knowledgeable and don't seem to get caught up in process and detail at the expense of good customer service. They'll spend as much time explaining things as you need or, conversely, to the hardened storer, they'll just leave you alone.
Your home contents insurance may provide cover for your possessions while temporarily in storage, but if not, Storage King Onehunga can offer insurance. It's convenient to do it all in one transaction but may not be the cheapest method so it's worth getting a quote from your insurer before you decide to sign up with Storage King's Insurance provider.
The entire site is very clean and well maintained. There are trolleys to help shift gear backwards and forwards and access to the site tends to be very sensibly laid out. If you are moving home they do you quite good deals on boxes and other packaging, but you may be able to get these things a bit cheaper still if you go to the likes of Trade me. They also have a deal whereby you can use their furniture truck or trailer FREE to move in and if this is not available they do deals through Hireace for discounted rentals or they can organize a reliable carrier.
So all in, I know I have gone on a bit but this is definitely the best storage company around. If you ever find yourself needing to use storage facilities, my advice is to head straight to Barbara at Storage King Onehunga.
