Awesome food. Beautifully presented. Not your average sushi, but something... so much more! It is a little pricey, but it's worth it once in a while. Very authentic atmosphere and interior deco. Friendly staff. I recommend sitting at the bar seats on the far side, where you can watch the chefs make sushi rolls right in front of you. It is a truly wonderful dinner experience :)

Check your bill here. I have just had dinner (11/2/2011) with a group of friends, only to find $200 extra added to our bill. When we counted everything up they admitted to having made a mistake and claimed to have given us the wrong bill. Strangely the bill they gave us had everything we did order on it, they had just added some "extra" meals and drinks which hadn't been ordered or delivered. When i asked the manager what their policy was on overcharging she said it was to say "Sorry". Not good enough in my opinion.

Nestled in amongst the hustle and bustle of Queen St, Kura Japanese restaurant provided us with an excellent dining experience! Such vibrant and authentic atmosphere compliments Kura's food wonderfully. I was really pleased with the quality of service and that 'going-the-extra-mile' approach the wait staff provided. Highly recommended!

This serves some of the best japanese and jap fusion food in auckland. the service is great, awesome atmosphere, and they serve tap and bottled jap beer which my favorite :) i would recommend the beef tongue steak.

The fireplace and rustic stone wall add to Kura’s charm as much as little sake cups they offer to choose to drink from. There’s some unusual selection of sushi such as spider roll – with no spider but with soft shell crab that looks like a spider! The food was really nice and I liked the experience as whole.

Kura is a fab experience right from the moment you walk in...down the steep stairs to the basement restaurant. It's perfect for group dinners out, especially if you manage to nab the authentic Japaenese style table. The food is fresh and delicious and there's an awesome selection of Sake to choose from.
