The NZ School Of Radio has two intakes per year; Semester 1 starts in mid-January and Semester 2 mid-July. Class sizes are limited which gives you more one-on-one time with the more than 25 tutors & guest speakers that come into the school and more on-air time on the two radio stations on campus.
Our New Zealand radio school course is extremely popular with students and guest alike. We have over 25 guest tutors (including radio legends Iain Stables and Grant Walker) and speakers that visit the school during the semester. You will learn from people who have been-there, done-that, and are willing to share their knowledge with you.
We now also offer international guest speakers through Skype our thinking is; act locally, think globally!
The myriad of guests that frequent the course will also make crucial radio industry contacts down the line, which will be beneficial in your future employment.
Radio job placements over the last 3 years have averaged 69.2%, but the process does require some enthusiasm, passion and drive from you.
You will get to meet many of the stars of the NZ radio industry with trips to Auckland, and exclusive work experience opportunities. You willl be shown around (and get to know the folks) at the Rock, the Edge, More FM, Radio Live, ZM, Classic Hits, Newstalk ZB, Flava, Radio Hauraki and more!
NZ School of Radio Internships
Each semester there will be an opportunity to apply for several internships. There are 4 six-month internships available at Big River FM in Dargaville, 1 to 2 at The Ski FM Network in Taupo, and once in a lifetime 6 week internships at The ROCK and The EDGE in Auckland. The internships are a great way of further developing your skills and getting real life experience at a real radio station.
The internships can involve on-air announcing, promotions, copy writing, production and sales.
