26th January 2012 We had bought a discount voucher and were not excpecting to be WOW'ed, but we were!!! This place is fantastic!!! We both had the Chicken livers and they were incredible!! We ordered the Fillet and the Pork Ribs and our daughter had the fish and chips (for kids). The meals were not only very large, but cooked perfectly, and they looked good too. The ice-cream and mousse desserts were so delicious as well. We totally stuffed ourselves with this awesome food!! The staff were very friendly and accomodating and were very attentive without being overbearing. The prices are very reasonable especially when you consider the quality and quantity. The only down side to the whole experience, was parking - there is street parking which you need to pay for during certain hours, but it is worth it for the food. All in all, we loved it and will be back again as soon as we are in the area. Give Buffalo Bar & Grill (Takapuna) a try....you won't regret it! :-)
16th June 2013 My partner and I went here on a "Two three course meals for $50" deal (that should have been our first warning sign).
Every single meal we had was drowned with so much pepper you couldn't even taste it. I love peppery foods but the sauce was almost painful to eat. We asked for rare and medium rare steaks and got two well-done. Not that we'd have been able to taste the difference, it all tasted like pepper anyway. After our lumpy, bought-at-Countdown dessert, we left and burst into laughter the minute we left the door.
Our laughter was short lived, though, because severe food poisoning was soon to follow. We've gone to the health department about it so hopefully if more people had our experience this owner will be out of a job soon enough. Otherwise, I'm with Mr. Breslin - this restaurant needs to be on TV. I would never eat here again even if the manager paid us to.

20th September 2012 Shocking service! We went to the Buffalo Bar & Grill Takapuna last night, with a table booked and a voucher I bought through daily do for Ribs, Salad and Garlic bread. The garlic bread that turned up on the table was basically plain toasted bread, with no garlic butter and a side of tar-tare sauce for dipping? False advertising. We waited 40 mins with no service, while our flamboyant waiter ignored us as he minced between the kitchen and the empty bar. A couple next to us had eaten their entree, main and ordered dessert, in this time. We ended up walking out in disgust, I rang manager the next day to get my money back, I forced an apology out of him and he offered a free meal, I wouldn't want to eat there again for fear of them tampering with the food, this place needs to go to fair go or target.

22nd March 2012 The service was friendly and efficent and the meals came out pretty quick - which I thought was pretty good for 3 people running a mostly full restaurant and the pricing was very reasonable. However I was very underwowed with the meal.
I ordered the eye fillet - wish I hadn't I requested medium rare and got medium well done, it was chewy and not much flavour the other diners in my party both ordered the venison, again it was chewy and very small portions and tasted as if it was cooked from frozen. Salads were pretty bog standard - though I did like the potatoes.
we didn't stay for dessert. won't be back.

15th October 2011 We had a spreads voucher. We were warmly greeted at the door and seated at a nice table at the back by the kitchen. The owner/manager was friendly, made sure we had a drink while waiting. Meal was lovely and service we couldn't fault. The place is rugged be cause it is supposed to be that way, its a bar and grill. It was clean and tidy. We will be going back for more. Thank you for a nice night out.

22nd September 2011 Very disappointing. The restaurant was freezing cold because of the back door being open - apparently to help the extractor fans work. Most menu items had a + next to them which meant we were not allowed to choose any of these items with our voucher. leaving the expensive items. The meals were quite good.

15th December 2010 One of the worst restaurants I have been to. The service was not very good at all. The Waiter/Manager was not very helpful. we have been given a voucher to diner there and when asked him about the menu we were told no we could only choose from THREE mains! No where on the voucher did it explain that.
Food was not very nice at all either. Potatoes were under cooked and HARD and the salmon we ordered was dry. the restaurant has no ambeiance either. Was very dull. Not very inviting from the outside either and took a while to find. Would never dine here again

25th November 2010 Terrible , terrible . Heat and serve food - nothing made fresh. Don;t waste your time at this place. I ordered canneloni and shanks -- mash days old, shanks days old, microwaved pasta --terrible.

13th September 2010 Really well designed restaurant, I had the chance to pop in here when I was in the area. Great decision, seeing as I was hungry and this place gives pretty big portions compared to some haute cuisine restaurants..
Burger and Steak were fantastic, the drinks are relatively cheap and I would definitely return if I was in the area. Try the Buffalo Mozzarela and Beef pizza!
