REFRACTORY AND BOILERS INSULATION
The primary role of a refractory product is to provide an insulation barrier to keep the heat inside the chamber / vessel whist insulating the outside skin against heat loss and providing personnel protection against burns. There are many different products that are used either on their own or in conjunction with others. A brief description on some of the options is provided below.
High Temperature Insulation:
Often used in conjunction with other refractory products, high temperature insulation offers minimum heat loss to the outside face of the oven, furnace, etc. They are a much cheaper option to refractory castables or bricks alone and are considerably lighter. Hardeners can be applied to the product surface to improve wear, or the product can be fully soaked and baked to produce a board offering higher wear capabilities. These products are held in place with pins or fasteners and are easily replaced.
