Hi, I came onto this site to add a comment from a fantastic experience I was part of on May 21st at this Venue. After all the advertising I had heard of the "Dennis Marsh" star unveiling on the Boulevard of Star walk,Boulevard Orewa, A group of us decided that it was "an event not to be missed" as we knew Mr Dennis Marsh was a highly regarded NZ Entertainer and we had heard a lot of amazing comments about the Boulevard of Dreams Venue ,So, we booked in and attended the event. What an amazing honor it was indeed! Being a "proud Kiwi" and having two members of our party from Australia, we witnessed a "Maori Welcome and Blessing" from a Local Maori Dignitary before hearing a heart wrenching reply by the man of the hour Mr Marsh.
This followed by the emotional unveiling of Dennis's "Star" on the Boulevard and then with amazing manners, the Owner/Host Mr Brown invited Mr Marsh and his wife to begin their amazing "hangi" meal. Mr Marsh's table of supporters, ALL OF WHOM I have been advised were paying patrons to proceed with their meals and then forthright the rest of us patrons followed.
The crowd that had assembled were deff beyond expectation and this did show within the establishments Staffing comments and then by Mr Brown himself but in saying that I personally felt that Staff etc handled the "pressure" to the best of their abilities.
Dennis then proceeded to "entertain" all those had come for that main purpose, to be entertained by Mr Marsh and he did so in a truly impeccable manner.
I was also impressed with the fact that this venue had managed to secure a "Tv" camerman to film such an event and thus able to not only promote this venue but the Orewa Area in general, thumbs up to who ever managed this!
I was well aware of the "60th birthday party" crowd as I spoke to members of that group myself and joined in with a few of them as they enjoyed the talents that Dennis was sharing!
I am deeply saddened to read some of their comments, especially the ones that "blame Mr Brown and his staff" for the demise of the "Birthday Boy's night" I can only assume that they were aware that such an event was being held on the same night as their "party" as the publicity for such was well advertised, and had been so for sometime, so, honestly if they had known this maybe a "re-consider" of their options should have occurred? I admit that the "hangi" meal wasnt advertised as such until the day before the event, but, totally understand why it was as with the numbers that had booked in for dinner (and then those that turned up anyway) it would have been impossible to cater individual meals as per other Saturday nights and with the "guest of Honor" being Maori I understand why the owners choose this type of buffet.
I have been advised by the owner that only 6 "complimentary" meals were given to Special Guests, not the amount that one of the persons who has made a comment on here has indicated event though this truly was none of anybodies business.
The drink prices are standard (in fact on the cheaper side) of other venues in the area so I cannot understand the comments made about "pricing" and the "decor" is "unique" to the general ambience of the whole "American Boulevard" theme including the "statue" of Elvis!!
I can only sympathise with those that did not have a great evening at the Boulevard of Dreams on the night of May 21st BUT I cannot agree with them, because quite simply it was one of the best and most heartwarming evenings my group had ever witnessed and all I can say is "it is a Entertainment Venue like no other" and this is first and foremost before anything else, well done to the BOD team, keep it coming!
