We provide Professional and Recreational Flight Training. If you have a career in mind flying the big jets then we can help get you there, or if you chose to fly for fun, sport, or recreation then we have a program for you too. also we provide flight training for microlight or sport category.
We are situated on Thames Aerodrome just 3 Km's South of Thames township, on the western arm of the picturesque Coromandel Peninsula. Thames is one hour east of Auckland city in the North Island of New Zealand.

AIRCRAFT
CESSNA 172
We use the time proven Cessna 172. A four place machine with excellent carrying capacity and ease of flying.
Airtourer series
We also use the 'Airtourer' a preferred training aircraft previously used by many defence forces around the world. Fully aerobatic and a delight to fly.
MICROLIGHT
Tecnam micro light trainers are available.
Professional & Recreational
Southern Air Services will train you to a professional standard for either the career minded student pilot or just for recreation to fly with family or friends.
Training is carried out from Thames airfield and over the surrounding Hauraki Plains. This provides an excellent environment in which to fly.
We are away from the busy main airports and free from controlled airspace which can hinder progress.
We are at THAMES AERODROME and check our our website for more information.

11th November 2009 Had a great time learing off Les. Gathered some priceless information. I obtained a 182 (CSU) and airtourer rating from him. Had never flown a constant speed unit before and he made it really manageable. We also looked at details behind dropping parachutists, invaluable info!! (Les has extensive parachute drop experience). Needless to say the aerobatics in the airtourer were WICKED!!!! :)
