The Wairarapa Addiction Service (WASI)is a free confidential counselling service to assist people who have concerns about their own or someone else's alcohol or drug use or gambling issues. The Service also runs group counselling sessions, and has youth counsellors available. Short-term residential accommodation is available (if applicable), plus a community detox service. WASI also runs the Wairarapa Methadone Service, an opiate substitution treatment programme.
We can do an assessment which will help you decide if you have an alcohol or drug programme, provide information about gambling or alcohol/drug abuse/dependence, and offer support & counselling to friends and family members. Our Youth Counsellors offer educational programmes for schools as wll as individual counselling for young people. WASI counsellors can work with people who have a psychological or psychiatric diagnosis in addition to an addiction. We have both registered nurses and GPs available.
