The interior of Bouterey's is elegant and the lighting is perfect. I have been several times and can't fault his beautiful starters and mains. They cook a lovely angus sirloin and the fresh market fish is always just that, fresh!! Service is great but if you're a big eater you will need all three courses. I like to go here for special ocassions with friends.

Have eaten here on many occasions and love it every time! The food is beautifully presented and cooked to perfection. The wine list is also amazing and Matt has an art of choosing the right food/wine combination. We love it all and will keep going back as the menu changes and new delights are always in store.

We thought Boutereys lived up to its reputation and accolades, really nice food, friendly service and compared to prices paid in Auckland we thought it was good value. We had the pork belly too and thought it was mmmm, the scallops were beautiful and the chef had made his own yummy sausages that we loved. The desert tasting plate got us in a frenzy and we rolled out the door happy and very satisfied. Will definately go again next time we're down in Nelson.

We ate here Saturday night and found the food pedestrian at best. A pretentious menu that did not live up to the pretentions of the chef.Caramelised shallot tart that was tasteless, Confit of duck that was overpowered by mustard celeriac sauce,pork cheeks that were poorly cooked and rubbery, warm white wine and warm water, what can I say! I just dont get it!
This restaurant is touted as one of the best in the region but from our experience it should be avoided like the plague. $137.00 for indequate food.

Highly recommend. Fantastic service and the food is outstanding. Locally sourced products cooked to perfection. Go for a special occassion or just because you can - it's worth it. Prices are extremely reasonable considering the standard of food - I've paid more for crappy pub meals. The porkbelly - to die for!! Can't wait to go back.
