Owners Gary and Carol Scott have a strong local business background, having firstly established the area(TM)s first and only aluminium joinery manufacturing plant, Kumeu Aluminium Ltd in 1989. Sold in 2003, the business is still successfully operating today with many of the original staff.
One particular project in 2002 involved the installation of joinery requiring the hire of a cherrypicker. Gary soon worked out that it would be more cost effective to buy a small cherrypicker to carry out the project. What followed is now part of our history, from people wanting to oeborrow our little 7m cherrypicker to our first hire. It was inevitable really that Gary recognised a niche in the market for the region, and turned up one day with a 12m cherrypicker, then a 13m Platform Unit. The rest, as they say, is history.
Recognising a niche market has been the basis of our success. In early 2005 Gary oestumbled across our first Bridge Inspection Unit. Today we own four Underbridge Units, and carry out contracts all over the country, as far south as Timaru.
