Argyle Preschool is a small well established centre that caters for children 6mths to 5 years in a family group philosophy. We are licensed for 30 children, including up to nine under two years of age.
We are open 7.30 to 5.30 and offer 20 free hours.
Our character bungalow, in a quiet suburban street, provides learning experiences in an intimate and well resourced environment. Our very special playground planning around mature trees and gardens presents endless opportunities for children to explore, be challenged, experiment, and extend all areas of their development.
"Infants, toddlers and young children have ready access to stimulating and well resourced learning environment throughout each day. Thoughtfully designed areas spark children's curiosity, motivate their exploration and experimentation, and allow them to revisit learning, developing skills and experience success. Recent development of the outside area has enhanced opportunities for children to engage with and make meaning of the natural world" (ERO report August 2009)
At Argyle we are committed to employing trained, registered experienced teachers, we fell this is the underlying key to achieving our goals of implementing a child centred programme that respects and encourage children's individual needs, strengths and interests in an exciting, challenging and respectful learning environment.
All teachers at Argyle are fully trained and experienced early childhood teachers.
"Respectful relationships between teachers, children and parents are a feature of the centre.
These significant and trusting relationships contribute to children's physical and emotional wellbeing and sense of belonging in this mixed age family like setting
The learning potential of each child is well supported by skilled teachers, the programme and the learning environment of this service. There are extensive and meaningful opportunities for children to develop as confident communicators who are interested in art, music, drama, science, literacy and mathematics. These interests, along with their growing awareness of the needs and rights of others, provide a sound base for children's development and learning now and in the future" (Argyle Preschool ERO REPORT 2009)
