Fantastic place to dine! Service is fantastic, food is absolutely delicious and there wine selection could satisfy an army. Would definitely recommend!

The place promises you to get action after you leave! Have been here many times and it continues to astound. The scallops for entree are terrific. The venison is to die for. Highly recommended. Great selections of wines and the service is impeccable. The White chocolate pannicotta is absolute heaven. Great place to embark on taking the missus.

Excellent food, friendly service and great wine.
one issue was that I had the duo of duck and the breast was nice and warm so I assumed the leg was too, I cut off a piece, put it in my mouth and burnt the entire roof of my mouth.

This place is great for a winter meal - the host is great and always recommend fantastic wine selections. Definitely a place to try !

great restaurant with a fantastic host. am always impressed by a person's wine knowledge when they're in the know, and they can impart a little of that onto a layman like myself.
the food was simple fare, but presented and prepared to perfection. I personally would've just liked to see a few more adventurous things going on, but i guess that isn't what Number 5 is about.

We are over here from Manchester England. We had the chef’s tasting menu with wine.
To start we was not going to have wine with the tasting menu for two reasons,
(1)The first was we don’t drink wine at all we just don’t like it.
(2) In the UK, Drinking and driving a MASIVE no no.
We found out that we could not have the chefs menu without the wine, a little naughty we thought, and a way of getting extra money out of you.
We was able to have the chefs menu but 1 had to have the wine on it.
So off we go.
The wine waitress was a star, we just figured she has sniffed just a little to many wine corks.
The food throughout was superb, the wines we slurped and sipped was amazing. So much so, we being crazy the English Drove to HALKES BAY to buy some of the bottles and drove back to Auckland in 1 day.
That’s how impressed we were with the wine.
However we do highly recommend this restaurant with the wine.
But take 2 things into consideration. Get a taxi, so you can enjoy the food & wine! As you will.
Get there early. So you can enjoy the food and wine as you will.

Amazing food!! Will always remember the food. The service though was also outstanding. Carol our waitress was literally the best waitress we have ever had at any restaurant. You haven't dined until you have tried number 5
