From its humble beginnings in a small Russell workshop to an ever-expanding yard in Opua's commercial estate, Bay of Islands Marine Centre has become one of the biggest boating and fishing stores in Northland. Lazercraft, Buccaneer, Surtees, Kiwi Kraft and Smartwave boats are all available here, as well as the ever reliable Yamaha outboard. The Bay of Islands Marine Centre is a family-owned and operated business, run with absolute dedication to top service and top products.


About Us

"We are all about quality", says owner Chris Hornell, "and we believe this is reflected in the stock we sell and use ourselves." The Bay of Islands Marine Centre has been a boat, motor and chandlery business for over 15 years. In 2006, Chris and Manuela leased a bigger yard and showroom, enabling them to include an extremely impressive fishing tackle display. Since then the yard has been steadily expanding and has recently added Surtees to its list of high quality boat agencies.

All the top brands are featured, and a NO CRAP(TM) attitude makes the Fishing Hole a great place to purchase some quality tackle. Electronics play a big part in the business, with Raymarine, Lowrance and Furuno all well displayed on two impressive stands, which are surrounded by a large array of boat chandlery, outboard spares and trailer components. The whole place emanates enthusiasm, and the workshop is as busy as its three, full-time service mechanics suggests.
