We're one of New Zealand's most well respected and experienced providers of addiction treatment services. Since we began in 1980, Odyssey House Auckland has helped thousands of people with drug, alcohol addictions and compulsive gambling problems regain control and turn their lives around.

We have residential adult, young adult and a specialised family centre and 3 co-existing disorder residential programs. We also operate adolescent residential programs and community based programs for adults and youth. Plus school-based youth programs.

Based on a treatment model that emerged from the United States in 1958, it is a psychiatrically oriented Therapeutic Community (TC).

The primary objective of a TC is to foster personal growth and change.

The treatment is holistic. This means treatment of the physical, emotional, psychological, behavioural, intellectual, spiritual, and vocational aspects of a person.

The TC focuses on the need for global change in lifestyle and identity.

The treatment assumes the need to alter previous dysfunctional coping mechanisms.

The TC is overtly value-based - actively promoting Right Living as a prerequisite for recovery. This includes certain beliefs and core values such as:

pity about the long long waiting list. waiting4just about a year has destoryed familys i really think our so called leaders in wellington would do something about the lack of funding and rehab(family}places in new zealand
