Niue Land Matters

There is now an increasing attention from off-shore Niuean families to discover and register their family land holdings in Niue. One needs a Niuean genealogy and knowledge regarding the whereabouts of the family lands. Without these tools, the claim for ancestral lands is like looking for a needle in the hay-stack.

For those needing to confirm their knowledge of their ancestry and land holdings, this is also a journey into the past and memory lane. Often, past memories are simply that. These do not translate easily to a successful claim in the Land Court setting.

I am available for the initial consultations, advise, and if given the go-ahead, then, proceed with the work involving much research and interviewing witnesses. Legal fees commence at this stage.

Much of the material can be compiled from Auckland, where I am based, and, travel to Niue to appear in court to present the family case. The judge does the deciding, not me nor anyone else.

In most cases, family witnesses are in Auckland or other parts of NZ. There are now a number of family witnesses in parts of Australia.
