We had a lunch here just before Christmas, and we found this place in Kimbolton did a very good job. It was cold outside, yes even in December, it had just been raining/sleeting as we'd walked through a couple of parks, and the three of us needed a good lunch-time feed to warm-up. The cafe has a big open fire, which the staff had going when we arrived, and that certainly helped to make the place welcoming on this cold day. The decor is very "country kiwi" - woodsy, rustic, with plenty of authentic old notices and newpaper items taken from round the district. Nice touch. The menu is standard cafe fare, steak, fish, chicken, burgers etc, with chips on the side, but it's good solid tucker, well cooked and presented. Beer, tea and coffee to finish. This is not Cordon Bleu cooking - but it IS quality cafe food priced at around $15-$18 per person. Good for groups - everyone will find something that they like. I liked the meal, liked the feel of the place, and would happily stop again.
