Worst ever dining experience ever! We got a grabone deal voucher for $30 all you can eat dumplings. When we walk in its a gaming lounge/pub. We got a couple drinks and asked to look at the dumpling menu. It was so poorly presented had been printed out with four options to choose from sellotaped to a book. They say you are only allowed to choose two to start so we did and had to ask where to sit. They then lead us out to a dark back room which they had to turn on the lights in. No one else was here tables were still filthy and not set and could already tell this was not going to be good. Young children walking past as if they are living there all we could hear was them thumping around in the back. 20mins went by and they bring out our first dumplings with soy sauce. The sauce stunk like vinegar and the dumplings were faul! I had half one and my girlfriend had about the same. We got up and walked out straight away. Was so unprofessional these people should not be serving food it was the worst experience we have ever had. DO NOT RECOMMEND! For the value of money this was a complete joke I should have demanded a refund!

You don't find these good old fashioned NZ pubs anymore still with a separate public and private bar, especially not in Auckland. Nothing staged here, it's an authentic English pub that's been in the same building for over 100 years. Great outdoor area, plenty of room for the kids to run around, and very handy to the ferry. Great pub grub and a handle club. Don't miss the weekend meat raffles run by the local fishing club who use 'the Tav' as their clubrooms.

It seems the previous reviewers visited the Masonic on a bad day, each time I have visited it has been nothing but enjoyable and delicious! Good beer, good food (burgers and seafood platter the best in my opinion) and the best views in Devonport. I look forward to Wednesday nights' Pub Quiz, always a good atmosphere No complaints from me! :)

We were lucky enough to be invited to the Doolan Brothers opening night. The pub has had a make over and looks fantastic with a new floor, outdoor area and large windows to lighten up the place. Nice range of tap beers and tasty looking menu.
