It's always pleasure to visit my hygienist in Glendowie dental centre, not only because of her cheerful and friendly manner, but also because of the thorough cleanning jod she does and her knowledgeable and valued advice to help me look after my teeth, for example how best to floss. Today, she advised that I would be wise to use sugar free chewing gum between meals because she noticed that my salive was a bit 'sticky'. I have no doubt that my half yearly hygiene treatments will help ensure that I keep my teeth in good order for much longer.

They are so nice here! Especially Dr Ross (can't remember his last name) I'm a big baby when it comes to pain but they were all so nice when I had my root canal and fillings done.

My mother raves about this dentist, so if you have teeth like her, this dentist would be perfect! My mother hadn't been to the dentist in 40 years and she had built up a lot of plaque over the years, the dentists here made her feel at ease while she got her teeth cleaned. As she wasn't able to get all the plaque removed in one session, she was told to come back for a second session. All in all, this cost her $110 which she was about to claim from Work and Income (the second followup session was free). On the other hand, I am 19 and see a dentist once a year to get my teeth cleaned. I don't have bad or dirty teeth, I'm just paranoid about developing gum disease when I am older. I get a bit of tartar build up near the gumline and like to have this cleaned. A very very very basic clean cost me $120 for 10 minutes worth of cleaning (I checked the time). This works out to $12/minute, which is extremely expensive as just the week before on TV3's Target, the average was $7/minute. The clean wasn't very good compared to my usual dentist, I went home immediately and was still able to scrape tartar off the sides of my teeth and I did not feel like I had very fresh breath (which I usually do after seeing a dentist). I was very disappointed with the cost and the service, but I do have to say that the dentist was very gentle and so he would be perfect for those who are afraid of visiting a dentist for the fear of using excessive pressure :) My mother will return, but I will go back to my usual dentists which costs $98 for a better clean.

I found it hard to find any dentists with a review so I wanted to pass on my great experience with Birkenhead Family Dental. Having avoided dental treatment for years due to bad childhood (and adult) experiences, I was totally blown away with the modern, painless and compassionate treatment I received here today. Not only was the whole experience a lot less painful, but also a lot less expensive than anticipated. The fish tank kept my son amused and the tv was a great distraction. Thoroughly recommended.
