Accommodation - Booking in New Zealand

My partner and I travelled from Australia and stayed at Lindale lodge as reccommended by a family friend. The lodge was very neat and had smart furnishings. Staff was approachable and glad to point out the best sites and restaurants. Wellington was easily accessible by train and there were buses to the fabulous beaches, tracks and activities. The CBD was about a twenty minute walk away. I will be staying here again on our next trip to beautiful NZ!

Was there anything really great about your stay you'd like to share? Nice and roomy, comfortable, quiet even though on a main road

This was such a lovely hotel to stay in. However my experience at this hotel was totally ruined by the elderly lady on the front counter. After a lovely weekend away I left the hotel in tears because of her. Firstly she accused me of having 3 children staying in the hotel. When I informed her I only had two children (a 9 year old and my 16 month old) she still didn't believe me. She didn't say so but the look on her face said it. She told me I would have to pay an extra $30 for my 9 year old. I took that on the chin but when I questioned why I should have to pay the $30 when we didn't recieve an extra continential breakfast that was included in the deal (which didn't consist of much let me tell you) in our room. She said that the $30 didn't cover for an extra breakfast, just the use of the fold out sofa bed. So pretty much you have to pay $30 for the washing of the extra sheet and pillow case. I thought this was ridiculous. She was so rude to me. Not what you would expect from a front counter person. We also had in the Yazoom deal passes to Waiwera included in our stay. I rung the Nautilus hotel before I purchased the deal on Yazoom to ask if we paid the extra $30 for a child is another ticket to Waiwere included. I was informed by a male person on the phone that I WOULD receive an extra ticket. So I went ahead and booked the deal. When I asked the same elderly lady at reception for the extra ticket to Waiwere she informed me that the $30 doesn't cover the Waiwere ticket. I explained to her that I was informed from a male staff member that I was told it did include the ticket but she told me I was given incorrect information and that she would not be giving me an extra ticket to Waiwere for my family. I will not be staying at this hotel again because of this experience with this lady. The way she handled the situation was very unprofessional in my opinion.
