30 Beach Road, Urenui, New Plymouth

Very nice location and the beach is great... problem with this place is the distinct lack of meet and greet by the hosts. When attempting to book this place we spent numerous phone calls only to be answered by the cleaner, eventually had to resort to e-mail, which seemed to be answered a few days later. We arrived on a Friday night around 8pm with a young baby in tow, all guests were instructed to use the after hours key box, we found our keys then spend 30 mins looking for the terrace lodge. All sign posts are written in what looks like crayon and are on small pieces of drift wood. No lights were on the roads or signs, map was useless that they left. We had to walk about 50 meters from our official car park to our lodge on a punga track without lights. Tried the key in 5 cabins before I found ours. This experience was also shared by other guests of ours who arrived midday, they had to show themselves to their unit and the lady wouldnt even talk to them face to face, she was shouting from inside the office that their key was in the box. For a $150 - 200 a night unit I would expect a little more i.e. lighting and an escort to our unit. The unit was lovely and had awesome views. The small things let them down. Although clean there was used tissue under the bed, and there was no tin opener in two of our units. The outside light didnt work and to top it off the BBQ had very little gas and was dirty. Overall a very nice place to stay however the owners need to spend a little more time on customer service and go the extra mile to make sure their units are clean and have all the items working.
