I went at the beginning of November - spring was at it's best! A beautiful spot in Hope, only a few minutes drive from Richmond, Nelson. There are variuos themed gardens which are naturally conducive for gatherings and functions. A large ampitheatre, a smaller ampitheatre with New Zealand plants both bordering on a surreal lake with a small boat filled with flowers, and a small waterfall. The sound of bullfrogs and a small group of ducklings following their mother was a delight. The White garden with its little stream and beautiful white flowers was a delight. The old fashioned roses in the Rose Pergola garden filled the air with a heady perfume that added to the romance of the whole place. Herb garden, Herbaceous Garden, Australian Garden, African Gardens, and of cource the Oriental garden, all interconnected with lovely walkways and flowed from one to the other beautifully! A beautiful place to visit and wander hand in hand with someone you love! $5 per adult and $gold coin for children make it a great place for a family picnic. They have available gazebos, foldup chairs to hire, and lovely gardeners who are only too happy to tell you about the gardens.
