I was a lifestyle accounting client. I discussed with Lifestyle accounting a rental property issue, which for an owner of a small business was very important that the advice I recieved was accurate. Full credit to Haydn Johnson - director of Lifestyle Accounting, for approaching me in the street and telling me that he had given me inaccurate advice, however when I wanted to meet and discuss the issues that this raised for me, which cost me a substantial amount of money, Lifestyle refused to discuss it with me, and told me to go find another accountant. Failure to discuss the issues with me, that arose from his inaccurate advice, is a breach of the Fair Trading Act. I would suggest that any potential or current Lifestyle Accounting customers be aware that if any problems arise which are service related, that they may find the same result that I did. I have since taken the complaint to the NZICA, and then recieved a letter from Lifestyles lawyer, as he still refuses to accept that he is responsible for the advice he gave me. I simply feel it is my duty to let members of the public know, so that they can avoid being in this position themselves. The Commerce Commission will be investigating this complaint later in the year.
