Wining & Dining in Auckland

The Belgian Beer Cafe in the Occidental Hotel in centrally located in Vulcun Lane in Auckland city is a great place to hangout and watch the world go by. I think Belgian beers are the best beers in the would and here they are served in authentic glasses to add to the experience. Add to that a steaming pot of their NZ mussels and you find yourself in a place that is hard to beat.

We went to Igacu on Friday night and as usual, everything was superb. We had the bread for starters, which was freshly baked. The mains we had were lamb, beef cheeks and eye fillet. All were cooked very well and the vegetables supporting them were just as delicious as the meat. Service was excellent, professional, but not in your face. Had a delicious mango cinammon cocktail as well. Unique flavours that went together well. This is still the best restaurant I've been to.

This is one of my favourite restaurants. Nestled away in the Viaduct the exterior of Industry Zen is quite dark and deceiving. Enter through the beaded curtain into a wonderful and almost magical atmosphere which truly takes you on a journey. The bar with flurocent blue light and tree stump like bar stools has an array of assorted international beverages. For an intimate evening for two you can opt for a side table with your very own bamboo screen to make it quite private. I perfer being seated in the middle and at 8pm- in time for the chefs and waiters mini show- where the curtains are raised, drums bang and we are introduced to our non-english speaking chefs. The food is from another world. Carried by horse carriage figurines,sashimi nestled in a porcelain house or prawn croquettes dangeling from minitature trees- the cuisine is presented in a fun and unique way. Go and see for yourself what a great dining experience this is. One of Auckland's best kept secrets!

After being fed up with those pretentious, arty & pricey fine dining restaurants, we came to DaVinci for a proper meal. This is exactly what we want - a solid and wonderful dining experience with great value. The wine list is an exciting bonus for our meal- extensive selection and many by the glass. Friendly service. Don't miss the Tiramisu, the best I have ever tried. Highly recommend this restaurant!

We took our work group of 18 there last night and was SO impressed by the food and service. We did the $77 per head function menu and it was absolutely faultless. This is one restaurant I know we will all be visiting again and again.

Grand Harbour restaurant is the best Yum Char, actually no, best overall Chinese restaurant I have ever been to. The quality of food is fantastic, the price is reasonable and you leave there feeling just the right kind of full. To sit and sip Chinese tea with friends while eating lavish steamed dumplings and scrumptious other flavoursome chinese delicacies has left me with no other choice than to return next week, and the week after that and the week after that....
