Me and my family (my mother is Italian) have eaten here a couple of times and we all agreed the food is fantastic. The best italian meal we have had in a long time, since visiting Italy in 1965. Great service, Great staff. Even the lift has its excitement....

My husband and I went here for our anniversary, and we couldn't have chosen better. We were beginning to despair at finding a truly top class restaurant in Nelson. But look no further. Mint has it all. Has those little extra surprises and touches that make your evening better than just good or satisfactory. No need to mention food quality or service, goes without saying. Hats off to Mint, they've nailed it!

The Lone Star is a great value, excellent service kind of place. The meals are the best in the City and I would recommend for anybody and everybody to go there.

Star Performance! My wife and I turned up on Valentines Day at 5pm without a reservation.... They managed to squeeze us in with the proviso that we would be departing before 8pm - all fine, but a contractor had dug up a power cable in Nelson and a power cut... one of the busiest days of the year and no power - no eftpos - nothing. So they gave us some lovely bread and a couple of glasses of wine (The Wooing Tree- most appropriate for Valentines Day and delicious) The power came back on around 20 minutes/half an hour later and we were asked if we wanted a la carte or "trust the chef" along the lines of a degustation menu. So that is what we chose. They started with oysters followed by proscuitto & buffalo mozarella with fresh figs, then fried white bait, seared sea run salmon and then roasted beef ribeye. Every dish was superbly prepared and presented. Given the "Masterchef moment" with the powercut at the beginning of the evening it was a total credit to the outstanding professionalism of the team. Oh and the service was pretty good too :-)

The service was the only redeeming quality here. The food which was overpriced was terrible. My husband ordered Pork belly for $28 which consisted of 3 slices of pork that were as thin as bacon and mashed potato. I ordered the southland Blue Cod with risotto. The fish was old (very smelly) and dry and the rice wasn't cooked properly. I informed the person serving us and she said sorry, but for the price it was not worth it. Will not be going there again.

visited after friends recomendation. got to say this was just a great place to chiil out at. food, coffee, staff all superb. cant wait to get back there again soon. T.
